FAQ- Areola Tattoos

Relax and be patient…

This is the end of a long journey, so sit back, take a breath and relax. You made it to the good part!

How long do I have to wait after Chemo and or radiotherapy?

Both chemo and radiotherpy affect your body in many different ways. Your immune system needs to recover, and so do you. After Radiotherapy your skin will need time to regenerate, so please be patient and give your body time to heal, 6 months would be best. The stronger the skin, the better results we’ll get.

Please, ask your doctor about your Areola Tattoo if you’re unsure weather enough time has passed since your treatment.

How do I know this is the right Place for me?

I’ve been tattoing for more than 10 years. I do realism, portraits, oils and watercolour tattoos. I have experience with scar tissue, skin grafts and the nipple-areolar-complex.

The method used for tattoing Areolas at Inksomnium® has been developed together with and oncologist, Dr.Med.A.Perez Casas, and at any given time we can contact her and discuss any challenges your canvas may pose.

How do I get in touch with you?

You can book an appointment via email

What about scar tissue?

Scar tissue is different to helathy skin, it’s been damaged, nerves have been cut or exposed, colagen distribution has changed, vascuarity reorganised and many other factors have to be taken into account.

But yes, we can tattoo over scar tissue, depending on how long and how well it’s healed. We can camouflage the scar tissue with skin-tone inks, but sometimes being creative is the best choice, we can add some floral elements i.e, in order to achieve more esthetic and long lasting results.

You can consider this option 6 months after surgery, but the older the scar, the better.

How long will it take?

Usually 2 sessions are enough to get the desired reults. Again, here being patient is key. The whole process will take at least a couple of months as we will leave 4-6 weeks between sessions, the area we’re tattoing is very delicate and has suffered enough so we’ll try to not overwork the skin too much. Sometimes Less is More…

Everyone’s skin is different so please, be open for sqeezing in another session if neccessary, and don’t worry, we’ll adapt to your skin’s requirements.

I simply don’t like my Areolas, can you help me too?

Of course, we can reshape, add colour and even texture.

Will there be someone else in the room?

Not on our part. Areola sessions are private, but feel free to bring your best friend with you.

Why do you use permanent ink?

Any kind of tattoing causes trauma to the skin. Why put yourself through this process over and over again? With tattoo ink the results are stable throughout time and colours won’t change as much as with semi permanent pigments.

Ok, but can we talk abot this first?

Of course! First we’ll book an appointment to get acquainted, talk about your expectations and the possibilities we may have. Each case is unique, skin discoloration, scar tissue, vascularity changes… Make every aspect of your tattoo special, so we’ll explore our possibilities together and adjust the design so that it fits your own canvas.

No preasure. if you need more time to think about it we can place a temporary areola tattoo that will last a few days and like that you’llcget a better feeling about the end results and clear your doubts before you book your appointment.
